As a church we have felt led by God to put energy and resources into our intermediate group (9-13 year olds) and
are currently experiencing good fruit.

We are looking for a part time (2 days per week) person who can take this key ministry to the next level.

As the ministry expands we would hope to increase the hours.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Title: Intermediate Youth Worker
Reports to: Doubtless Bay Christian Centre (DBCC) Pastor and Board

Job Purpose: To develop, plan and carry out work with intermediate aged children (primarily aged 9 – 13) in the Doubtless Bay area in line with the current vision and goals of Doubtless Bay Christian Centre.

Key responsibilities:

• Encourage and enable the spiritual and personal development of young people aged between 9 and 13, although in some cases this may extend this to those who are slightly younger or older. Our vision is to engage young people and their families in a safe environment to help them grow spiritually, in order that they may develop a strong Christian faith and become effective and contributing members of a vibrant and outward reaching Christian community.

• Develop strategies and programmes to reach and engage young people in the target age group.

• Develop a working vision for older teens as they progress through the Intermediate Group.

• Develop and strengthen relationships with local schools and other organisations that may be pivotal to the development of a strong Intermediate Group.

• Implement and, where necessary, modify existing programmes designed to reach the target age group in a school environment. These may include Shine, Strength, Face Up and other similar programmes, but not necessarily.

• Investigate the viability and implementation of after-school clubs, for example OSCAR, ICONZ and IFG.

• Develop and implement holiday clubs/camps/groups.

• Form and grow relationships between the Intermediate Group and Kidz Church.

• Proactively network with local, regional, and national organisations for sharing of ideas and up-skilling.

• Such other duties as arise from the development and implementation of DBCC’s intermediate age group strategies, as are agreed from time to time.
